Actor Vikram Gokhale dies at 77 in Pune

Vikram Gokhale, a veteran film actor and actor, passed away at the age of 77 in Pune on Saturday afternoon, news agency ANI reported. The actor had been in the hospital for some time and was on “life support”. As per reports, the mortal remains of the veteran actor will be kept at Balgandharva Theater for last darshan, and his last rites will take place at 6 pm at Pune’s Vaikunth Sanskar Bhoomi.

“We are saddened to announce that noted actor Shri Vikram Gokhale passed away today at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Our deepest condolences,” read an official statement from the hospital.

A family friend of the actor told that his body will be kept at Balgandharva Auditorium in the city and the last rites will be performed at Vaikunth crematorium in the evening.

Actor Gokhale has appeared in several Marathi and Bollywood films, including “Agneepath” (1990), “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” (2007), “Natsamrat” (2015), and “Mission Mangal”. Gokhale is equally at home in theatre, television and films (2019). Her most recent film was the Marathi film “Godavari”.

In 1971, Vikram Gokhale made his film debut in Amitabh Bachchan’s Parwana. He won the National Award for Best Actor in 2010 for his performance in the Marathi film Allowee. He made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Aaghat.
