Celebrating more than eight years at Amazon, Area Maintenance Manager Cameron Coverdale joined Bain at its launch and experienced firsthand the benefits of an employee resource group. “The program has exposed some amazing black leaders in the Amazon and I think it’s really empowering,” he says. “It also serves as a connecting point for some really cool mentors who have faced challenges similar to mine.”
Through affinity programs like BEN, the company has attracted a diverse roster of talent and has enabled itself to be a launchpad for career development where employees can learn new skills, advance their careers and work with people who share their values. For Coverdale, part of his success at Amazon came from participating in Career Choice, the company’s up-skilling and education assistance program, where he earned a certificate in Principles of Inventory Control. This has led to some incredible work at the company, including converting a contract position into a full-time internal role and a promotion to his current position.
