Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra, who is popular for sharing witty and inspirational content on his Twitter handle, has now shared a picture of croissants (flaky French viennoiserie pastries) being sold in India under an unknown name.

Sharing the photo, Anand Mahindra tweeted, ‘Well at least my French son-in-law agrees that croissants are an effective remedy for all kinds of aches and pains…and we Indians have learned the concise software programming language. I have mastered it.. so why not?”

The croissant seen in the picture is sold for Rs 20 in India. Surprisingly, the shopkeeper changed the name to Crocin. Crocin is an analgesic drug widely used in India for the treatment of headaches.

The photo also includes croissant names in various pronunciations: kwa-sone, krusso-en, kras-ent, quah-saun, kru-sone, and krav-soo.

“Oh these French and Austrians!! Pronunciation made easy in India!!! My India great!!!” Photo text read.

Netizens enthusiastically responded to the tweet. As one user put it, “As long as it’s fresh and crisp… what’s in a name? And consuming food always eases the headache to some degree.”

Many users called it funny. Another user wrote, “I can’t hide my laughter..hahahaha this is impeccable sir.”

Another user tweeted, “How did Austrians get into this? They’re great with pastries and croissants, but in no way are responsible for pronouncing a French innovation.”
