Delhi MCD elections: AAP set to sweep Delhi civic polls with 149-171 wards, predicts India Today-Axis My India exit poll

Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to be swept clean Delhi Municipal Elections (MCD Elections) With 149-171 wards, predicted the India Today-Axis My India exit poll on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may get 61-91 wards, followed by the Congress with 3-7 wards.

The BJP is expected to get 35 per cent vote share in the MCD elections, while Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party may get 43 per cent votes. Apart from this, Congress is likely to get 10 per cent votes in the exit polls.

Voting for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was held for the first time after the major merger in the national capital on Sunday. At least 1.45 crore people were eligible to vote and choose from 1,349 candidates. According to the State Election Commission, the voter turnout for the election was 50%. The voting percentage was lower than in the last two elections. The counting of votes for the selection of 250 MCD councilors will take place on December 7.

The India Today-Axis My India exit poll estimated that 51 percent of scheduled caste (SC), 36 percent of upper caste and 40 percent of other backward caste voters voted for the Aam Aadmi Party in the MCD elections.

Another exit poll ETG-TNN conducted by Times Now also predicted a mandate of 146-156 wards for AAP. The survey predicted 84-94 wards for the BJP and 6-10 seats for the Congress. Other parties may get 0-4 seats.
