Google Year in Search 2022: List of top searches in India this year

Google on Wednesday announced its ‘Year in Search 2022’ results for Indian users, which provides insight into how and what people in the country searched on the search engine during the year 2022. The list, which is released annually, includes a comprehensive. Range of topics like trending events, sports, news, movies, and much more.

Google’s results for this year’s ‘Year in Search 2022’ reveal that Indian Premier League (IPL) was the top trending search in 2022, followed by CoWIN and FIFA World Cup 2022. This list, compared to last year’s results, shows a noticeable change in search trends in 2021 for people searching primarily for coronavirus-related queries.

According to Google’s ‘Year in Search 2022’, people also searched for sporting events such as the Asia Cup and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which were ranked fourth and fifth respectively.

Bollywood’s VFX-heavy film ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ managed to grab the sixth rank, while ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ ranked ninth in the list. Movie watchers also searched The Kashmir Files, RRR, Kantara, Pushpa: The Rise and Vikram. Apart from this, Lal Singh Chadha, Drishyam 2 and Thor Love and Thunder were in the top 10 movie searches this year as well.

Apart from these, the government’s ‘Agneepath plan’ topped Google’s search list in the ‘what’ category, followed by North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

In the ‘Near Me’ section of Google searches for 2022, ‘Covid Vaccine Near Me’ became the most sought-after topic, followed by ‘Swimming Pool’, ‘Water Park’ and ‘Movies’.

On the other hand, Google search’s ‘How To’ list shows that ‘How to download vaccination certificate’ was at the top position, followed by ‘How to download PTRC challan’.

According to Google, the most searched celebrities in the country in 2022 is suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in the first place, followed by President of India Draupadi Murmu, new Prime Minister of United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, Lalit Modi and Sushmita Sen .

‘Paneer Pasanda’ recipe was the most viewed in the year 2022, followed by ‘Modak’ and ‘Sex on the Beach’.

In terms of news events, Google reported the deaths of Lata Mangeshkar, Sidhu Moose Wala, Queen Elizabeth and Shane Warne as the most searched topics. People also took interest in Russia-Ukraine war, UP elections and Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
