Gujarat Assembly Election Phase 1 Voting 2022: To decide the fate of 788 candidates in Gujarat, the first phase of polling has begun at 8 am today on 89 seats. Important seats going to polls include Rajkot West, Morbi, Jamnagar, Katargam and Khambhalia. More than two crore voters will vote today, out of which 1.24 crore are male voters and 1.15 crore are female voters.
There are over 5.74 lakh first-time voters and 4,945 voters above the age of 99 who will vote in the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections. For this, 25,430 polling stations have been set up. According to the Election Commission of India, out of 788 candidates, 718 are male candidates while 70 are female.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia urged voters, especially first-time voters, to come out in large numbers to exercise their franchise ahead of the polls.
