Computer security company TechLok Solutions unveiled laplockPocket-sized anti-theft solution designed to protect one’s laptop or other belongings from sneaky thieves. CES 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The LapLok has a semi-permanent adhesive horizontal mounting arm that you first attach to the back of your laptop. You can then attach that mount arm to the laploc’s mouth and then adjust the lower arm to the desired height and clamp to a desk or armrest. When the LapLok is in place, you simply pull it down to secure it.
The tool also features an intelligent password management system that lets you release the laplock and input your passcode when you need to move your computer. Passcodes can be easily changed and managed through the LapLok system.

The device also includes an adjustable alarm that goes up to 100 decibels in case of attempted theft. You can set the LapLok alarm volume to either high, medium, low volume, or completely off, depending on your needs or location.
“Every 53 seconds, someone is a victim of laptop theft,” said Ryan Angott, president of LapLoc. “With the work from anywhere movement skyrocketing, airports, cafes, and shared workplaces have all become hotbeds for laptop theft. We designed the LapLok to serve as your pocket-sized security guard. LapLok allows users to work in peace and confidence with the peace of mind of knowing your device and data won’t go anywhere, even if you walk away for a few minutes.
LapLok is currently available through the crowdfunding website indiegogo On its own, or for C$102 in a productivity pack that includes a phone holster and a bagloc to secure briefcases or other bags to the laploc. Despite the note on Indiegogo that it only ships to the US, Angott said that all Indiegogo orders will be fulfilled in May, regardless of where they come from, and that starting in mid-May the US, Canada and Customers in Mexico will be able to buy LapLok on Amazon or directly from the LapLok website.
